Coagulation

Plasmaconcept AG offers tailor-made concepts for the outstanding and efficient care of haemophiliacs based on a forward-looking approach.

Haemophilia is a disorder in the blood plasma where the body's ability to control blood coagulation is impaired. In the strictest sense there are two known forms of haemophilia:

  • Haemophilia A: In this case it is almost exclusively men who are affected. It is due to a lack of factor VIII (anti-haemophilic globulin).
  • Haemophilia B: Lack of factor IX. These aforementioned lacks mean that the speed of blood clotting is severely reduced.

Moreover, there are various other forms of haemophilia that are also characterised by a lack of clotting factors.

Today's therapy is generally prophylactic or, if required, the absent or lacking factor is replaced. This ensures that haemorrhages are, as far as possible, ruled out and the patient can lead a relatively normal life.
